Heena's story

Heena, 19 years, stays in a resettlement colony in Delhi. Heena’s family migrated from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi in search of livelihood. Heena stays with her father, mother and brother. “I come from a traditional Muslim family where girls are not given the chance to go for higher education and they are married off when they turn 18 and in many such families girls below 18 are married off by their parents. My father works as a security guard and earns a meagre salary. My Mother is a home maker but she also works part-time as a voluntary health worker in a government programme. She does not get any fix salary. The maximum amount she earns from this work is Rs. 600 per month”, says Heena.
