Plan Laos

Plan has been working in Laos since 2007, helping poor children to realise their rights to education, health and a high quality of life.

In the 300 communities that we work with, there are difficulties accessing adequate healthcare, sanitation and basic education. The communities are impoverished, which can leave them vulnerable.

Plan Laos helps children reclaim their rights through programmes and participatory activities that place children at the centre of their own development.

Currently, among our priorities is supporting Early Childhood Care & Development in communities to secure young children’s right to a good education. This is done both through early-learning centres, co-located with primary schools, and community-based parenting groups.

Plan also works with local organisations and government agencies to ensure education policies protect the children’s right to quality education.

Plan Indonesia

Plan has been operating in Indonesia since 1969, helping poor children to access their rights to health, sanitation, education, livelihoods and protection.
Our work benefits 52,000 sponsored children and more than 400 communities nationwide.

Currently, among the major projects, we are focusing our Learn Without Fear campaign to end violence in schools. A Plan 2008 survey revealed that 67% of 1,500 student respondents in 3 major cities of Indonesia said they had experienced abuse at school. Perpetrators of the abuse include peers and teachers.

Plan India: how we work

Based on many years of experience, Plan believes that sustainable development of disadvantaged communities can be achieved only if children’s best interests are at the heart of everything we do and if children themselves actively participate in the process.

Child centred community development is the term we use to describe how we aim to do our development work. It's a rights based approach to development where we support communities to develop the structures and skills they need to provide a safe and healthy environment in which children are able to realise their full potential.
