Stop vold mod kvinder

Tusindvis af piger og kvinder er i disse dage samlet i FN i New York for at sætte fokus på vold mod kvinder. Blandt deltagerne er seks Plan-støttede piger, som taler mod vold i skolen – én af de største barrierer, der forhindrer piger i at få en uddannelse.

Pigerne fra El Salvador, Vietnam, Uganda, Norge og Finland deltager i den 57. Kommission for Kvinders Status, som altså finder sted i FNs hovedkvarter i New York den 4.-15. marts.

Pigerne har mulighed for at dele erfaringer og påvirke de repræsentanter fra medlemsstaterne, som nu skal formulere politikker, der fremmer pigers rettigheder og status på verdensplan.

Child marriage in conflict

“I wanted to become a doctor, but since we left home in Timbuktu, I don’t think I will be able to go back to school. I hear my family talking about finding me a husband as soon as possible. That’s not what I want.” 

14 year old Aicha, now living in Segou in southern Mali, is worried about her future. Like other girls caught up in conflict and other disasters, she is at increased risk of early marriage. Although the reasons behind child marriage are complex, poverty and fear of poverty often drive families into making this choice for their daughters – and poverty is often a consequence for families during conflict or following disasters. By pushing girls into marriage, parents have one less mouth to feed – and they may receive payment.

Plan Attends the 57th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women

Plan International is pleased to attend the 57th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women to be held March 4th through the 15th at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The theme of this year’s session will be the “elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls." The inclusion of girls within this year’s theme marks a turning point for the commission which has previously focused on equality for women while making special allowances for girls.

Supporting the Needs of Children and Teachers in Mozambique

"I didn't know floods could be like this."

Those are the words of 7-year-old Domingo from Chilembene community describing the floods that have disrupted the start of his school year. The floods have submerged schools, homes, and hospitals in the Chokwe district of Gaza Province.

As the flood-induced humanitarian crisis continues to take its toll on thousands of communities across the country, Plan International has stepped in to support government efforts through the provision of 10,000 learning kits.

Plan Danmark søger frivillige oversættere


Plan arbejder for, at folk kommunikerer på tværs af grænser og kulturer.

 Kommunikationen mellem vores PlanFaddere og børnene har derfor stor prioritet.

Lige nu søger vi frivillige oversættere, som er med at sikre kvaliteten af kommunikationen.
Som oversætter hjælper du os med at oversætte blandt andet breve til og fra fadderbørnene, familiebeskrivelser, årsrapporter og andet materiale fra Plans programlande.

Learn Without Fear

Plan's work to promote child rights and lift millions of children out of poverty is based around 8 core areas: education, health, water and sanitation, protection, economic security, emergencies, child participation and sexual health, including HIV. With that comes the three main campaigns Because I am a Girl, Count Every Child and Learn Without Fear.

Over the next year one of these areas or campaigns will be the focus for one month each.

The focus of March is Learn Without Fear.

Peaceful Elections Would Bring Stability to Kenyan Children

Global children’s charity Plan International (Plan) has urged Kenyans to maintain peace during the forthcoming general elections to maintain stability for millions of children in the east African country.

Plan Kenya Acting Country Director Samuel Musyoki said in a statement today that he is encouraged by the resolve of the country’s political leaders to campaign peacefully in the lead up to the historic elections slated for March 4, 2013, the first under the new constitution written by Kenyans since independence.
