“I believe early marriage deserves special attention as it is an under-reported form of abuse,” sagde Kiran, der studerer historie ved School of Oriental and African Studies.
“My article focused on a young girl in rural Bangladesh who was forced into wedlock at the age of 12. I explored the consequences on her life, as well as the wider issues internationally and in the UK. The highlight of the trip was meeting young people who are campaigning against child marriage. Talking to children who want to make a difference in their community was so motivating.”
Hvert år bliver 10.000.000 piger rundt omkring i verden tvunget ind i ægteskab før deres 18 års fødselsdag - nogle til mænd der er to til tre gange deres alder.
